Residance / Rhythm to Dance
Pilot project for community dance in Detmold
In 2006, the idea to bring Royston Maldoom and his team to Detmold was first mooted. The philosophy of community dance, as he represents it, always has art, people and sustainability in mind. The result of which ensures that a long-term development of recurring dance projects with amateurs includes as many people of different ages, origins and physical conditions as possible, in the art form of the dance.
The first community dance project started in April 2008, where I worked with the choreographers Tamara McLorg and Janice Parker, under the artistic direction of Royston Maldoom.
The next step was the installation of an "Artist in Residance", who was sought through joint Master Classes.
The project was funded by the Peter Gläsl Foundation and lasted for more than 10 years.
